LIVE REVIEW: Pentire at The Grove, Newcastle

A little over a year since their Newcastle debut, Herefordshire four-piece band: Pentire made an unforgettable return to Newcastle. Previously, playing Zerox in 2025 on their last headline tour, Pentire stepped up their game for another night of keen Geordie fans, at a bigger venue (The Grove) and even some new tunes.

The night began, with Kayla Grace, with her fantastic indie-pop! Kayla Grace is a solo artist from Watford and completed the entire tour with Pentire, serving as the perfect person to warm up a crowd.  With her latest single ‘Celeste’ packed with soft tones and vocals, the type of music to soundtrack a cosy winter night, Kayla Grace did not disappoint.

A short gap ensued, perfect timing for a cold pint or even a chit chat, however, that was short lived, as Central Arcade made their way onto stage. Central Arcade are a 4 piece indie-rock band from Newcastle, the perfect opener. Banger after bang, that is the only way to describe it; songs such as ‘I’m no saint’ and even their latest single ‘Cane’ which was unreleased at the time.

Giddy fans sung along to every tune, which is always a sight to see especially for a support act, even people who had never seen the band before found themselves uncontrollably bopping their head.

Swiftly after, Central Arcade made their grand exit from the stage, fans stood in anticipation for Pentire, over 350 eager faces filed the room, a sold out show, nothing less than what the band deserved.

A banner draped with a QR code hung mysteriously on the stage with curious members of the audience scanning it, but then, the music fell silent, hands positioned to thump themselves together with nothing but excitement.

Opening with ‘Watch Time With Me’, a fan favourite; the band’s stage presence was unmatched, the perfect mix of nonchalant and chalant. Jack, Pentire’s lead singer, brought the energy, smiling and singing away, throwing his arms out to the crowd occasionally.

The setlist was jam-packed with amazing songs such as ‘Have You Had Enough’, ‘Being Underwater’ and ‘Fading Out’ – just to name a few of soon-to-be indie anthems. The set continued without incident, happy fans and a happy band: the perfect formula. Finishing with their biggest hits: ‘Burn’ and ‘Spinning’, the crowd bounced and some even opted to mounting one another’s shoulders, creating a grand spectacle.

Overall, the gig was a blast, with perfect supports and impeccable vibes, Pentire did not fail to disappoint, I’m looking forward to their next north east show at Munroe festival playing with names such as The Lilacs and Dossers in Stockton – it is not one to be missed!
